All external users (individuals who do not have HR-based contracts or study rights defined in Sisu) will have their accounts created and renewed via the University’s new Kamu service ( https://kamu.helsinki.fi/) beginning 4 May 2026.

Kamu is the University’s third personal data registry alongside Sisu and the HR system. Kamu manages personal data and roles for external individuals. Kamu also functions as the registry for limited accounts and stores confidentiality agreements for external persons.

Due to the implementation of Kamu, persons responsible for onboarding external individuals to the University should note the following beginning 4 May 2026:

  • This change affects all University user accounts that are not based on HR system agreements or study rights in Sisu. Such accounts include, for example, employees of group member-companies, consultants, evaluators, trustees, external members of research groups, etc. We will send these users an email about this change during week 19.
  • As of 4 May 2026, these types of user accounts will be based on an active role membership in Kamu. Users activate their own accounts in the MyAccount service – see our bulletin on the MyAccount launch. Paper forms will no longer be used.
  • During the transition period, existing accounts will remain valid until their current expiry date – however for a maximum of one year. If an account for these individuals needs to be extended, they must be added to the appropriate role in Kamu well in advance of the account’s expiry date.
  • See IT Helpdesk instructions for using Kamu
  • See IT Helpdesk instructions for using MyAccount
