A new cookie management tool will be gradually introduced in the University of Helsinki’s online services starting from January 2026. For users, the change will not affect the user experience and does not require any action.
The deployment will first take place as a pilot in January in the Wiki service and the IT Helpdesk instructions. During 2026 the deployment of cookie management tools will be gradually expanded to other online services. The IT Centre will contact the owners of the network services directly for more detailed instructions.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in a user’s browser. For example, they allow the website to remember the user’s settings, recognise the user when they return to the website and thereby improve the user experience. Cookie management also facilitates the management work of website operators and helps to keep cookie descriptions up to date.
