The new Uniprint printingservice produced by Unigrafia, Ricoh andthe University of Helsinki IT Center willbe gradually deployed at the University in autumn 2024. The Uniprint service provider is Unigrafia. The installation of the new printing system and devices will begin in October 2024 and will be completed in January 2025 at the latest.
We will install the new Ricoh printers at the Meilahti Campus from 30 October to 6 November 2024. We strive to mitigate any inconvenience caused by the installations to University staff and students, but the installations may cause intermittent printing service breaks at individual Meilahti Campus buildings.
See the entire building-specific installation schedule on the uniprint.fi website and the Meilahti Campus installation schedule below.

Printing devices and their locations
- We will reduce the total number of printing devices at the University of Helsinki in connection with the installation of the new Ricoh system. The number of new printing devices is based on long-term usage data. We have defined Uniprint device locations in close cooperation with University units to determine optimal device locations for University staff and students.
- The new Ricoh devices represent the latest printing technology. They are fast and efficient, have excellent printing quality and significantly easier to use than the current printers. The new devices are also environmentally friendly and highly energy-efficient.
How does the new service work and how do I start using it?
- The new Uniprint service works similarly to the previous University printing service. Show your identifier (e.g. HSL or ID card) to the multi-function printer reader to start using the service. Once you have logged, the service opens your personal print queue. You can then copy or scan documents or release the printing jobs you have sent to the queue. Network printers do not have a reader. Printing to them happens via a direct printer-specific queue.
- As the identifier, you can use an HSL travel card, a staff card or a printing card/identifier provided by Unigrafia. The identifier consists of a unique series of numbers, which is different for each identifier and therefore the identifier is personal. Itcannot be handed over directly to thenext user.
- NB! Your old ID card will also work with the Uniprint service once you have registered it on the printing device. On multi-function printers you can also log in directly with your University username and password.
