We will upgrade the University’s Unitube Uploader video service with new features in July 2024. In addition to an overhauled user interface and new features, we will improve the usability and accessibility of the service significantly.
Unitube’s Opencast backend system will be updated from version 11 to version 13 concurrently with the feature updates. The entire Unitube service will be unavailable from 1 to 7 July 2024 due to the updates – we will release detailed information about the service break later this spring.
- During the service break, you can use the University’s Zoom service in Unitube lecture rooms to stream or record your lectures. Recording a lecture or meeting is an easy way to make content available for a larger audience. Recording lectures and meetings also saves time and effort with repeating lectures, training sessions and meetings. See the IT Helpdesk instructions for recording lectures and meetings in Zoom.
- If you want to watch or share Unitube recordings during the service break, you can temporarily move your recordings from Unitube Uploader to another service (e.g. Vimeo or YouTube) before the break.
During the service break, 1–7 July 2024:
- Unitube Uploader (lataamo.helsinki.fi) will be unavailable.
- Unitube Viewer (www.helsinki.fi/unitube) will be unavailable.
- Unitube recording and streaming in Unitube lecture rooms and studios will be unavailable.
- The Unitube videos in Moodle will be unavailable.
Did you notice: we introduced an automated AI captioning feature to Unitube Uploader in early 2024? See IT Helpdesk instructions on how to enable AI captioning for your videos.
Unitube is the University’s video service for watching and publishing videos. Videos are uploaded to Unitube via Unitube Uploader. See IT Helpdesk instructions for using the Unitube service.
