The Unitube video service will be unavailable from Wednesday to Thursday 8–9 July 2026. The outage affects the entire service: Unitube lecture and studio recording and streaming, the Unitube Uploader service, as well as the Unitube video gallery on the helsinki.fi website.
The outage is due to a mandatory version update of the backend system Opencast, which enables us to further develop the Unitube video service and introduce new features.
With the update, we are also preparing for the launch of the new Unitube video gallery at the end of 2026. Unitube video gallery is the public video site of the University of Helsinki, where you can publish and view openly available video recordings. The service, launching at the end of the year, will include many improvements and features requested by university staff to enhance the discoverability of University of Helsinki videos.
- During the Unitube service outage, you can use the Zoom service in university Unitube lecture halls via computer.
- If you wish to view or share Unitube recordings during the outage, you can download your recordings from Unitube uploader and temporarily share them on another service, such as Vimeo or YouTube.
During the outage 8–9 July 2026:
- Unitube Uploader (lataamo.helsinki.fi) will be unavailable.
- Unitube video gallery (helsinki.fi/unitube) will be unavailable.
- Recording and streaming in Unitube lecture halls and studios via Unitube will be unavailable.
- Unitube videos in Moodle will be unavailable.
Unitube in a nutshell
