The University switched to a new procurement model for computers, phones, monitors and peripherals starting from 1 January 2026. The contract suppliers for IT devices will change due to the tendering process. The University’s new contract suppliers are Atea, Marski Data and HP.

NB!

  • In the new procurement model, the responsibility for IT procurements was transferred from the campus service coordinators to the IT Centre.
  • The Norssi teacher training schools, the Kumpula campus and the IT Center are outside the model for the years 2026–2027.
  • 1 January–28 February 2026 is a transition period due to the supplier change. During this time:
    • The available device selection is limited
    • Delivery times for order-based products are long
  • If you have questions about the new procurement model for IT devices and phones, or about device purchases, please contact the IT Helpdesk: helpdesk@helsinki.fi

The University’s IT procurement model in a nutshell

  • Under the new procurement model, the University acquires IT devices (computers, phones, monitors and peripherals) centrally to the University’s recommended device selection, from which University staff with employment contracts receive devices directly without separate approval.
  • The recommended device selection is designed to cover most of the University community’s needs. We strive to ensure that the device models in the selection are as compatible as possible with the University’s IT environment.
  • Computer, phone and IT device orders outside the recommended selection are always paid from the unit’s own funds and require unit approval. These purchases follow a separate approval process.
  • Due to the changes, the University’s PC models (Windows and Linux computers) will shift from previous Lenovo devices to HP devices.
  • The University’s current contract supplier, Dustin Finland Oy, will deliver Lenovo and Apple devices to the University until 28 February 2026 according to our current estimates. After that, Apple computers will be supplied by Atea Oy and PC computers by Marski Data Oy. We will update information on the new device models in the computer procurement guidelines once they are confirmed.
