The University’s computing environment is being renewed – new tools for research

01.07.2026 - 08:46

The first extensions of the renewing high-performance computing service (HPC) will be in pilot use from the beginning of June 2026.

The service provides researchers with an efficient platform for demanding scientific computing, enabling the use of modern language models, sequence and data analysis as well as various simulation and automation workloads – in other words, the processing of virtually any demanding material.

Users are provided with training and instructions to help in the effective use of the computing environment and the related software.

How do I get access to the service?

The service is open to all disciplines, and each faculty will be guaranteed a certain amount of resources. You can access the calculation environment through the IT Helpdesk: helpdesk@helsinki.fi. A user account and access to the appropriate IDM group are required to use the environment.

Where can I get support for using the service?

User support is provided by the IT Helpdesk and the IT for Science team, including personal HPC Garage support.
