Windows 11 will be updated to version 25H2 during autumn 2026 on all University staff Windows 11 computers. Microsoft will end support for the currently used 23H2 version in November 2026.
- The Windows 11 25H2 update will become available in stages during autumn 2026 in Software Center for Windows 11 computers used by university staff.
- Mandatory, scheduled Windows 11 25H2 updates will begin in October. You will receive a notification about the scheduled Windows 11 update on your computer, and you can postpone the installation until the deadline stated in the notification.

The updates will be installed on all University staff Windows 11 computers that have version 23H2 installed.
How to install the Windows 11 25H2 update on your University computer
- Please note that you are responsible for your files. If you have important files on your work computer’s hard drive, back them up and move them to a secure location, such as your Z home directory. See the IT Helpdesk instructions for saving and sharing files at the university.
- Install the Windows 11 update on your University work computer when you see the update in Software Center. Note: Keep your computer connected to mains power and the internet throughout the update.
- NB! The installation takes approximately 70–90 minutes, so install the update at a convenient time for you. You can postpone the update to a suitable time, for example at the end of your working day. The update appears in Software Center as Windows 11 25H2 In-Place Upgrade.
- You will see different views and windows on your display during the update, and your display may go black for an extended period. Please wait patiently until the update is complete and you see the Windows 11 operating system sign-in window on your screen.

After the update, sign in to the computer with your University user credentials.
