ATLAS.ti is software for the analysis of qualitative material. The University’s ATLAS.ti campus license is available for both University staff and students, and it covers both University computers and personal home computers.
ATLAS.ti’s cloud and AI features can be used to process confidential University of Helsinki information. For more information on the classification of data, see the Flamma Workgroups page (currently in Finnish only)
- Read the ATLAS.ti manual for tips on the secure use of the tool
- When you use the cloud and AI features of the ATLAS.ti service, the data you enter into the service will be transferred outside the EU (US).
If you intend to use the cloud and AI features of the ATLAS.ti service to process personal data
- Before you enter personal data into ATLAS.ti, please inform the data subjects that their data will be transferred outside the EU. Please note that data transfer risks must be assessed before entering data into the service.
- Minimise and pseudonymise/anonymise data where possible.
- If you have any questions about processing personal data, please contact data protection@helsinki.fi
- If you need to use information classified as Secret, you can use the ATLAS.ti service without cloud and AI features in the University of Helsinki’s Umpio storage space. See the IT Helpdesk instructions for ordering and using the Umpio storage service
