The Ubuntu Pro operating system license will be activated on University staff Cubbli computers from Tuesday, 6 February 2024. The licenses will be activated as daily automated maintenance runs are performed on staff Cubblis. Note that the Ubuntu Pro license will not be available for Kumpula Campus freshman laptops.
The Ubuntu Pro license will be activated automatically on your Cubbli work computer during daily maintenance runs, and the activation does not require any actions from you. Before the license is activated, you may receive notifications on your computer about updates that require Ubuntu Pro. These updates will be installed on your computer after the license is activated.
Ubuntu Pro includes more comprehensive information security updates as well as Live patching support for supported kernels. Live patching support means support for operating system kernel program code updates without restarting the system or applications.
