University community members used the Avidnote AI assistant actively during 2025, and the University has decided to extend the software license for one year until 6 February 2027.
Avidnote is a browser-based AI application that offers several useful artificial intelligence features for research and studies. Avidnote is a suitable solution for academic needs, as information security and user support are taken into account better than in e.g. free-to-use services.
The AI landscape is constantly changing, and the possible extension of the Avidnote license period will re-evaluated again after 12 months of use. Avidnote’s active use has a significant impact on the potential software license extension going forward, so we encourage University community members to use Avidnote in their work and studies also during 2026!
Note:
- You must follow the University’s general cloud service principles when using Avidnote
- Users are not allowed to input sensitive or confidential data or licensed materials into Avidnote.
Logging in to the service
- Click the Sign in with SSO (single sign-on) button in the Avidnote service
- In the window that opens, enter your username in the format firstname.lastname@helsinki.fi and click Continue. In the University’s single sign-on window that opens, select Accept.
- Select your information (your role at the University, the country and the University) from the drop-down menus and click Save.
