The Wiki service’s layout will be updated in October 2026

The purpose of the change is to make the Wiki service (wiki.helsinki.fi) more clearly distinguishable from Wiki Workgroups (workgroups.helsinki.fi) and to align the service’s appearance with the University’s Design System for digital services. The change will also improve the readability and accessibility of Wiki content.

Wiki and Wiki workgroups in a nutshell

• The Wiki service (wiki.helsinki.fi) is suitable for both internal University content and publicly available content. It is less restricted than Wiki Workgroups. Administrators of Wiki pages and spaces can, for example, create local user accounts and invitation links that allow people outside the University to edit Wiki pages.
  
  Use the Wiki service if your content needs to be publicly visible or accessible from outside the Haka and eduGAIN federations. You can also use the Wiki service solely for creating content intended for internal University use by restricting the permissions and visibility of the Wiki space.
  
  
• The Wiki Workgroups service (workgroups.helsinki.fi) is primarily intended for producing and presenting content for internal University use and for collaboration between academic communities (the Haka and eduGAIN federations).
  
  Use Wiki Workgroups if your content is intended only for internal University use or for collaboration between academic communities.
