Laptop Lender

The IT Center is piloting the new Laptop Lender service at Viikki Info Centre. The Laptop Lender serves University staff and degree students during Info Centre opening hours at the building’s main lobby. You can get a Lenovo laptop to use for four hours at a time from the Laptop Lender machine.

The Laptop Lender service is for University of Helsinki staff and students only. You can borrow a laptop for four (4) hours at a time.

    Laptop Lender service rules

    • You can use the Laptop Lender service if you are an attending student or staff member at the University of Helsinki.
    • You can borrow a device from the Laptop Lender for four hours (4) at a time.
    • Laptops work at the Viikki campus area within the HelsinkiUni wireless network range. Do not exit this area with the device!

    You will also need:

    • A valid University username and password
    • A smartphone
    • A chip card based on the RFID-chip (e.g. your University employee ID card, HSL travel card or printing card).

    Please note!

    • You must register to the service in order to borrow devices.
    • The maximum device borrowing time is four (4) hours. If you do not return the device within the time limit, you will receive notification emails to your e-mail address.
    • You cannot extend the borrowing time directly. You need to return the laptop first and then borrow another device.
The previous laptop’s battery must be recharged, so you will probably receive another device if you wish to continue using a borrowed laptop.
    • If you do not return the laptop in time despite the emails sent to you, the University will take necessary actions in the matter.
