Microsoft will phase out support for Office 2016 and 2019 starting in October 2023. We recommend that University staff and students who are still using Office 2016 or 2019 on their work computers upgrade their software to Microsoft 365 Apps as soon as possible. Microsoft 365 Apps includes the latest software versions of all Office applications (including Word, Outlook and Excel).
The Microsoft 365 Apps upgrade will become gradually available for University computers that still have Office 2016 or 2019 installed from 21 September. Shared IT stations and lecture hall computers will be centrally upgraded to Office 2021.
Install the upgrade when you receive a notification of it on your computer. You can also install the upgrade at a time that suits you best from Software Center. The upgrade will take approximately 15–20 minutes.
