An issue was detected with the AoVPN (Always on VPN) Device Tunnel earlier in week 17. Due to the issue, Z: home directories were not automatically available for University staff working remotely on centrally managed Windows 10 laptops without a separate OpenVPN connection. The issue has now been resolved with a fix which is automatically installed on University Windows 10 laptops on restart via centralized management from April 25, 2024.
- Restart your University Windows 10 laptop, and your Z: home directory will automatically be available to you again without a separate VPN connection. The update will also install if you power off your laptop and turn it on.
- If you use a centrally managed Windows 10 laptop for work,we highly recommend using the AoVPN User Tunnel to make your work easier! With AoVPN User Tunnel enabled, your Windows 10 laptop connects automatically via VPN to the University network, and you do not have to connect your computer separately with OpenVPN.
- Enable the AoVPN User Tunnel on your Windows laptop quickly with IT-Helpdesk instructions.
The AoVPN Device Tunnel is a VPN connection established automatically before logging in to a University Windows laptop, and is primarily intended for facilitating the management of University Windows laptops and login processes.
The AoVPN User Tunnel is an automatic VPN connection that connects you Windows laptop automatically to the University network on startup, enabling you to use University services without a separate OpenVPN connection.
Thank you for your patience during the service break!
