Howspace collaboration platform

Howspace is a digital platform designed for facilitation and collaboration. The University of Helsinki has acquired a Howspace campus licence, effective from May 2026, which provides an unlimited number of workspaces and users.

It’s worth starting your exploration of Howspace with the University of Helsinki’s customised workspace, which contains information materials (the website is in Finnish, but you can select your preferred language from the translation menu in the top right-hand corner). In addition to introductory material, you’ll find instructions and links to resources and training courses in this workspace.

    Getting started

How do I get my own workspace?

You can set up a new workspace in the following ways:

    1. Request a workspace from the administrators using the online form (Finnish, Swedish, English). This is the recommended method.
    2. Create a new private draft workspace yourself, sandbox, on the my.in.howspace.com portal page and ask the administrators to promote it to production use (see the help page in the Help Centre). You can then invite other users. NOTE: The login and other settings for a workspace promoted from a draft workspace need to be adjusted slightly to ensure the workspace is actually usable.

Please note that when acquiring a workspace, you must provide the profit centre code (H-code) when placing the order for statistical purposes. The costs of workspace licences under the campus licence are apportioned annually on this basis. There are no costs associated with test workspaces.

    Getting started

Howspace is used in a web browser, either directly in your own workspace or embedded in, for example, Moodle. Once you have been allocated your own platform, an invitation link to your platform will be sent to your email address.
