Issue with Zoom meetings opened with Firefox on Moodle resolved – see instructions

An issue was detected earlier this autumn whereby, when opening a Zoom meeting on Moodle with the Firefox browser, users received an error message "Unauthorized. Sorry, your session was expired. Please refresh the page or login again”. The issue is due to a new security setting on Firefox – disabling the security setting will enable Zoom meetings opened from Moodle to work again.

You can also circumvent the issue by using the Zoom desktop application or other browsers instead of Firefox to open Zoom meetings from Moodle.

On Firefox you can fix the issue as follows:

  1. Sign in to Moodle with your Firefox browser and move your cursor over the shield icon next to the Firefox address bar. The security setting is visible via the message No trackers known to Firefox were detected on this page.

  1. Click the shield icon.

  1. Disable the Enhanced Tracking Protection setting by clicking the setting switch off.
