Did you know that you can access all University Zoom service features by logging in with your University username and password? Logging in to the service is also worthwhile due to the security features for larger meetings.

Inactive Zoom accounts will be deleted in summer 2025

  • During summer 2025, the IT Center will delete University Zoom service accounts that have not been logged in to since 2024. The reason for the deletion of inactive Zoom accounts is information security.
  • NB! If your Zoom user account is deleted, your ongoing and recurring meetings will also be deleted! If you have not logged in to the University Zoom in a long time, please log in to the service as soon as possible – see IT Helpdesk instructions
  • Even if your Zoom account is deleted, you can easily create a new account by logging in to the Zoom service with the University Single Sign-On (SSO) at https://zoom.helsinki.fi/

University Zoom service features

By logging in to Zoom with your University username, you can access the following features of the University Zoom service, among others:

  • Meeting duration of up to 30 hours
  • Cloud storage developed by the service provider
  • Zoom’s traffic on the service provider's servers in the Nordic countries
  • You can be added to a meeting as an Alternative host

Additional security for your meetings

To help keep your meetings secure, the University Zoom has three different security features, at least one of which must be selected when creating a meeting. By default, Passcode is enabled, but you can also choose between Waiting Room or Authentication, i.e. mandatory login to Zoom. You can also choose all the security features.

Especially in larger team or workgroup meetings, it is a good idea to choose mandatory login in addition to Passcode, so that the participants of the meetings can be identified. We do not recommend discussing sensitive information in Zoom or other services.

Read IT Helpdesk instructions for using University Zoom to access all service features.
