Microsoft 365 license levels on university Mac and Windows computers

The university’s Microsoft 365 contract comes with several differently priced license levels. In order to use Microsoft 365 Apps software on either your university Mac or Windows work computer, you must have at least a Microsoft 365 A3 license level. The default license levels assigned to university Mac and Windows users is outlined on the Microsoft 365 license level upgrades page in the Default license levels by group section.

• You need at least a Microsoft 365 A3 level license in order to use a university Windows computer specifically named to you. The A3 license also enables the use of locally installed Office software. With an A1 license you can only use shared computers and use Office web versions! 
• You need at least a Microsoft 365 A3 license in order to use Microsoft 365 Apps on a named university Mac computer (your work computer). 

• Upgrades to Microsoft 365 license levels are always based on the unit’s needs (task-related needs, etc.). The unit is always responsible for the costs.
