Multi-factor authentication and its deployment temporarily suspended due to Microsoft’s service disruption

We have detected issues with multi-factor authentication and p hone authentication at the university. These issues are due to Microsoft’s service disruption. Microsoft has been unable to resolve the situation by 25 October 2021. Microsoft is currently working on a solution in cooperation with the University of Helsinki Center for Information Technology.
 

• We have suspended multi-factor authentication for the faculties and units that have already taken the service into use (University Services, HR Services, University Library, the National Library of Finland, and the Faculties of Science, Pharmacy and Biological and Environmental Sciences.
• We have additionally postponed the planned deployment of multi-factor authentication at the Language Centre, Luomus and the Collegium for Advanced Studies on 27 October 2021. We will inform staff and students about the new deployment date once Microsoft has resolved the situation.
• If necessary, we will update the faculty and unit specific deployment schedule and inform university staff and students about the new schedule once Microsoft has resolved the situation.
