Multi-factor authentication deployment temporarily suspended due to Microsoft’s service disruption

20.10.2021 - 16:41

Some university users have reported issues with multi-factor authentication and phone authentication. We have temporarily suspended the deployment of multi-factor authentication in the Faculties of Science, Pharmacy and Biological and Environmental Sciences on 22 October 2021 at 4:00 PM until the issues have been resolved.

These issues are due to Microsoft’s current service disruption. Microsoft is currently working to resolve the situation in cooperation with the University of Helsinki Center for Information Technology as quickly as possible.

  • The other authentication methods work normally. We recommend Microsoft Authenticator as the primary authentication method. Please see the IT Helpdesk instructions: https://helpdesk.it.helsinki.fi/en/help/20008
  • If your phone does not support the Microsoft Authenticator application, you can select an alternative authentication method. See the IT Helpdesk MFA Frequently Asked Questions page (Detailed help -> Authentication methods): https://helpdesk.it.helsinki.fi/en/help/20003

Our apologies for the inconvenience and warmest thanks for your patience!
