New VPN connection option AoVPN gradually available for university Windows 10 laptops

The IT Center will gradually enable the new Always on VPN (AoVPN) connection option for university Windows 10 laptops in 2021. AoVPN includes two automatically launched VPN tunnel (connection) options: the Device and User Tunnel. The AoVPN Device Tunnel was the first option to be implemented on new university Windows 10 laptops as of 3 May 2021.

• The AoVPN Device Tunnel is a VPN connection designed primarily to make computer administration and logging in easier. The home directory and roaming profile are automatically available to you. The connection is established automatically prior to logging in.
• The AoVPN User Tunnel is a VPN connection automatically established after logging in. University network services are available to users similarly to other VPN solutions, such as OpenVPN. We will enable this connection option for all university Windows 10 laptops later in 2021.

We will announce more extensive deployment of the AoVPN service at a later date.
