Updated

Update 7 April, 4 PM: the service break is mainly over. Some individual issues remain. We are currently resolving these issues. Our warmest thanks to Meilahti staff & students for your patience!

An extensive university network service break will occur at Meilahti campus on Tuesday 7 April 2020 at 8–11 AM. The service break is due to renewal work on the university core network conducted by the University of Helsinki IT Center. We are conducting the renewal work during 2020 in order to bring the university network up to date and to ensure optimal stability and performance.

N.B! The service break only applies to university networks, not to the networks of other operators or tenants at Meilahti campus!

The network service break will take place in these buildings/units:

  • Dental Clinic, Kytösuontie 9 (Meilahti-Ruskeasuo)
  • Biomedicum, Haartmaninkatu 8 (Meilahti-Ruskeasuo)
  • Haartman Institute, Haartmaninkatu 3 (Meilahti-Ruskeasuo)
  • Meilahti Campus library, Haartmaninkatu 4 (Meilahti-Ruskeasuo)
  • Department of Forensic Medicine, Kytösuontie 11 (Meilahti-Ruskeasuo)
  • FIMM

During the service break Tuesday 7 April 2020 at 8–11 AM:

  • Wired and wireless network connections will not work at Meilahti campus in the buildings/units mentioned above. Due to the renewal work short disruptions and slow connections may occur at other campuses as well. N.B: eduroam will not work at Biomedicum during the break!
  • After the service break we will conduct further maintenance work 11 AM–4 PM. During this time short network breaks and slow connections may occur.
  • During the service break you can use e.g. the hotspot functionality of your mobile device and OpenVPN to connect your computer to the Internet and use services limited to the university network. Read Helpdesk OpenVPN instructions.
  • If the timing of the service break does not suit you due to e.g. ongoing research, please contact Meilahti campus Service Manager Jukka Hienola well in advance.
