Update University web service certificates immediately – the University certificate provider ceases delivering certificates on 9 January 2025

The University’s web certificateservice provider Sectigo has unilaterally terminatedits agreement with Géant, which representsEuropean higher education institutions. This means that the University of Helsinki will no longer be able to order new web service certificates as of 9 January 2025, and services that use expired certificates will not work after this date.

If you are the owner or administrator of a University network service or information system, renew all certificates that expire before July 2025 by 31 December 2024!

  • Order a certificate for the network service you administer as soon as possible by requesting a new certificate from our service address ca@helsinki.fi. Then retrieve and install the certificate from the certificate provider’s portal.
  • The certificate must be ordered, retrieved and installed in good time before the deadline of 9 January 2025 in order for the service using the certificate to work after that.
  • If you need support in renewing the certificate of the University network service you administer or if you do not know whether this change applies to the service you administer, please contact the certificate service at ca@helsinki.fi

Funet, representing Finnish higher education institutions, is currently negotiating on a replacement certificate service with Géant.
