The home directory (Z drive) of each person working or studying at the university will become temporarily unavailable during the course of this autumn. The interruption is caused by the IT Center moving all home directories from old hardware to new hardware.
The remaining home directories will be moved in early December. Interruptions caused by the move:
- Saturday 2 December, 9 a.m.–11 p.m., usernames starting with A–E and P–S
- Sunday 3 December, 9 a.m.–11 p.m., usernames starting with F–J
If this applies to you:
- When you finish working on Friday 1 December, remember to log out.
- If you need any files stored in the home directory during the interruption, save them somewhere else well in advance. You can use, for example, a group directory or a USB flash drive.
- If you create any new files during the interruption, save them outside your home directory for the duration of the interruption.
After the interruption, you can find your home directory and any files saved there in the same place as before. You will be able to save any files created or modified during the interruption on your home directory afterwards.
If your home directory does not work after the interruption
If you cannot access your home directory immediately after the interruption, restart your computer. If your home directory still will not work, check the interruption and error notification list to see if the problem has been reported. If your directory does not work and there is no notification about the problem, contact Helpdesk.
