Microsoft 365 in a nutshell

Basics of the university's Microsoft 365 e-mail service

The national data classification model will be introduced in stages at the University of Helsinki

The data classification model common to all Finnish higher education institutions will be introduced in stages at the University of Helsinki. The data classification model outlines the classification of data and files processed in the activities of the universities, as well as the rules and restrictions on their use. During 2026, the model will be gradually introduced to the Microsoft 365 environment for all staff.

We will update the IT Helpdesk guidelines to reflect the data classification model during 2026.

    Quota

The easiest way to determine the location of your service is by looking at your mailbox quota. If you use the cloud service, the size of your mailbox is 50-100 GB (depending on license).

You will find details of the quota in Outlook Web App (OWA), by clicking on the cog icon > find word Storage.

In Outlook, the information can be found under Backstage, which is located on the File page, under Mailbox cleanup.
