The IT Center will pilot the Laptop Lender service at Viikki Info Centre starting from 3 April 2023. The Laptop Lender serves University staff and degree students during Info Centre opening hours (Mon–Thu 7:45 AM–8 PM, Fri 7:45 AM–6 PM, Sat 10 AM–4 PM) at the building’s main lobby. You can get a Lenovo laptop to use for four hours at a time from the Laptop Lender machine.
The Laptop Lender service was originally piloted at Alexandria at the City Centre Campus. In the future, the Laptop Lender will replace IT stations with desktop computers, which will allow flexible use of borrowed laptops at University campuses.
- The Laptop Lender is supplied with Lenovo laptops, which are shared computers. The software on the laptops corresponds with the current IT station desktop computers.
- You can e.g. easily complete electronic examinations on a Laptop Lender laptop.
- The Laptop Lender laptops can also be used for teaching purposes. Please contact the IT Helpdesk if the borrowed laptop does not have the software required for the course:

Using the Laptop Lender:
- To borrow a laptop, you will need identification, such as a printing card, HSL card or a University ID/access key. Please do not use your smartphone as an identification card.
- In addition, you will need your University username and mobile phone. When you use the Laptop Lender for the first time, you will register your identification card for the Laptop Lender service using your University username. When borrowing a laptop, only use the identification card and the pin code sent to you by the Laptop Lender.
- You can borrow a laptop for four hours at a time. When returning a laptop, remember to plug it to the outlet in the compartment. Loan laptops work around the entire Viikki Campus area.
