An extensive university network service break will occur at City Centre Campus on Tuesday 21 April 2020. The service break will mainly take place at 8–11 AM, and includes all City Centre Campus buildings and units. Intermittent slow connections and breaks may also occur at 11 AM–9PM on 21 April as well as the following few days due to maintenance work.

The service break is due to renewal work on the university core network conducted by the University of Helsinki IT Center. We are conducting the renewal work during 2020 in order to bring the university network up to date and to ensure optimal stability and performance.

During the service break Tuesday 21 April 2020 at 8–11 AM:

  • Wired and wireless network connections will not work at any buildings/units at the City Centre Campus. Due to the renewal work short disruptions and slow connections may occur at other campuses as well.
  • After the service break we will conduct further maintenance work 11 AM–9 PM on 21 April and the following few days as needed. During this time short network breaks and slow connections may occur.
  • Remote connections to devices at the City Centre Campus will not work during the service break
  • If you are working at the City Centre Campus during the service break, you can use e.g. the hotspot functionality of your mobile device and OpenVPN to connect your computer to the Internet and use services limited to the university network. Read Helpdesk OpenVPN instructions.
  • If you notice any issues after April 22, please let us know at helpdesk@helsinki.fi
