The new version of Microsoft Teams will be taken into use on University staff Mac computers starting 7 February 2024. The latest version of Teams is significantly faster than the previous version and includes multiple new features.
The new version of Teams will be installed on centrally managed University staff Macs from Wednesday, 7 February 2024. You will receive a notification on your University Mac when the update is ready for installation.
Install the update when convenient – the update takes a few minutes at most. New Teams will be installed automatically as a background process when the Teams client application is not open.
Please note: Microsoft has made changes to the default view settings in the new Teams version. We recommend that you adjust the following settings to maintain your user experience:
1. To make Teams groups appear as lists instead of a grid view, click the three dots at the top right corner of the Teams application (to the left of your profile picture), select Settings -> Appearance and Accessibility and under Layout, select List:
2. To switch to the previous default Teams theme, click the three dots at the top right corner of the Teams application (to the left of your profile picture), select Settings -> Appearance and Accessibility and under Theme, select Classic:
