The new Unitube Uploader will be released 31 January 2020. The new Uploader will contain a large number of requested improvements, in addition to which we are updating the backend systems of the service to better meet the needs of university staff and students.
Delay in the transfer of old videos
Transferring videos from the old system to the new one is taking longer than expected, which is why some users’ videos stored in the old Uploader will not yet be available in the Unitube Uploader on the day of the release. The recordings waiting for transfer are not available in the public Unitube Viewer or on Moodle. However, all the old videos will be automatically transferred to the new Uploader later.
- If there are videos previously uploaded to Unitube that you will need during or immediately after the downtime, you can download your files onto your computer from the old emerita Flamma Uploader until 28 January.
- You can temporarily publish such videos during the downtime on Vimeo, for example.
- If your old videos are not available in the new Unitube Uploader on the day of the release (31 January), you can ensure quick availability by manually publishing the files in the new service.
The entire Unitube will be down 29–30 January 2020
The upgrade will result in extensive downtime for the entire Unitube service on the last week of January before the release. The service will be down for all of Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 January 2020.
During the downtime:
- The Unitube Uploader will be unavailable. If you know you will need some videos during this time, see the instructions above
- The videos published in the Unitube Viewer will be unavailable
- Moodle-linked Unitube videos will be unavailable
- Unitube recording in lecture rooms and studios will be unavailable
- Local recordings are possible in lecture rooms using Zoom
- You can use studios without Unitube recording
- The Unitube downtime will not have an effect on any live Think Corner broadcast!
