Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

This landing page contains links to all the University's MFA instructions. You can find more help from this instructions site by using, for example, the search. If you cannot solve the problem with the instructions, don’t hesitate to contact the IT Helpdesk.

Multifactor Authentication (MFA) improves information security by making scam attempts more difficult for cybercriminals. You can choose to ask for authentication requests every 90 days per device to avoid receiving the requests continuously. MFA is a feature that provides additional security when logging in to many of the University's services, and it uses a separate device to authenticate.

Authentication methods

Recommended, easiest way:

  • Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone (push message)

Other alternative means of authentication:

  • Authentication with a single-use code (TOTP code)
  • Call

NB!

Due to changes to multi-factor authentication (MFA), you may receive an additional message Stay signed in?, when logging in.
You can check the box Don’t show this again and reply Yes.

Deployment

You can enable and adjust multifactor authentication methods at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info. Follow the instructions on the page.

We recommend that you use multiple authentication methods so that you can also use an alternative method of authentication if one of the methods is not available (e.g. you don’t have your phone with you or it breaks down).
This means that you can add several methods just to be sure and choose an alternative method during the authentication phase if you are in a situation where you do not have the opportunity to use your main authentication method.
