Microsoft has reported a new security vulnerability due to which the Windows 10 printing service break continues at the university. See our earlier Flamma bulletin about the printing service break.
We are still waiting for the necessary security patch from Microsoft and will install it as soon as it becomes available. Printing services will be fully operational once the Microsoft patch has been installed. University Mac and Linux computers are unaffected by the service break.
Use the following methods to print during the service break:
On your university Windows 10 work computer you can turn printing on for an hour or ten minutes at a time as follows:
- Go to the address https://onify.it.helsinki.fi/ and sign in (requires a university network connection, or a VPN connection when working remotely).
- Choose Self-service -> Manage your computer(s), and choose your computer from the list (you can verify the computer name from the University menu located at the lower right corner of you taskbar).
- Next to your computer’s name, choose Select action and Enable temporary printing. Accept the terms, click next and wait until the service has loaded.
On shared Windows 10 computers and student computers you can use e-mail printing. Read the IT Helpdesk e-mail printing instructions.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to university staff and students by the Microsoft security vulnerability. The printing service will be operational again as soon as the Microsoft security patch becomes available.
