We would like to thank all University community members who responded to our survey on University video services in the spring of 2025. We received nearly 200 responses and valuable information about the hopes and concerns of University community members regarding our video services. We will use this information now and in the future to develop our services in the IT Centre’s Video Services team.
Five lucky respondents won University product packages in the prize draw – winners received their prizes via mail earlier.
Answers to University community members’ most asked questions about video services
Unitube
- AI captioning — you can create automatic AI-generated captioning for each video in Unitube. You can also order AI-generated translations for the captioning. The language options are currently Finnish, Swedish and English. This feature can be found in the Unitube Uploader service on the information page of each video. See the IT Helpdesk instructions for using the AI-generated captioning feature
- Unitube video embedding — did you know that you can embed Unitube videos from collections shared in Moodle via a link? In this case, you do not need a complex Moodle course connection, but you can simply import your video into the course with an embedding code available from the Unitube Uploader. See IT-Heldpesk instructions for Unitube embedding codes
- Improvements to functionality — we have developed the scripts, alarm mechanisms and processes of Unitube’s backend system to make recording and streaming as free from disturbance as possible and as smooth as possible throughout the University. We have also used artificial intelligence to help with the development and coding. NB! You should always report all AV problems in the premises to the AV support immediately
- The new Unitube Viewer — the IT centre will take care of the University’s public video gallery, i.e. the Unitube Viewer. We are planning to build and launch an entirely new gallery site during 2026, introducing the features and information of videos which the users are longing for. At the same time, we will strive to improve the retrievability of our amazing video content so that as many of our University videos as possible find a home on Unitube.
