Windows 10 will be updated to a new version in late 2022

Windows 10 will be updated to the new 21H2 version on centrally managed university staff Windows 10 computers in late 2022. Thanks to a new update method, your Windows 10 computer will update quickly to the new version.

 

Your computer will display a notification about the required restart when the update is available. The update takes approximately 5–10 minutes including restart. The installation does not require a VPN connection.

  • You can check your Windows 10 version after the update as follows: press the Windows key on your keyboard -> type "winver" and press enter -> check that the window that opens says: ”Microsoft Windows, Version 21H2”.
  • The update requires your computer to have the 20H2 version of Windows 10 installed. This version has already been centrally installed on most university Windows computers. If, for some reason, you still have a version older than 20H2 installed on your computer, please contact our IT Helpdesk: helpdesk@helsinki.fi.
