If you cannot solve the problem with the instructions, don’t hesitate to contact the IT Helpdesk. The password linked to the University’s user account is valid for one year at a time. Of course, you can change your password more often for information security reasons.

Notifications about password expiration
You will receive a weekly email notification about your password expiring every Sunday, starting around 1½ months before the password expires. The password expiration message is automatically sent only to the account’s @helsinki.fi address.
Changing your password
You can change your password either
- In the password reset application at https://www.helsinki.fi/password
or - In Flamma, at the top of the front page, click on the circle (with your initials or photo), then select > SETTINGS > CHANGE PASSWORD.

We recommend changing your password in the password reset service, as it checks that the password is correctly formatted (e.g. is of the correct length and contains the valid characters).

How to change the password for a limited user account
- You can change the password of your limited user account even if your personal identity code is not linked to the account information, as long as the username and password are still valid and you remember them. Log in with your username and password.
- If the password has expired or you no longer remember it, you can reset it online only if the account information contains a personal identity code. You can log in to the application using a mobile certificate, bank identification or certificate card.
