Eduroam: Centrally administered computers
The centrally administered computers have the Eduroam network settings pre-configured. If the computer is in the coverage zone of Eduroam network, it will attempt to connect to the network automatically.
If the user has already used Eduroam on the computer in question, the user's credentials will probably be automatically saved and joining the network will be automatic, with no questions asked. If the user is logging in to eduroam for the first time, a login is required.
ATTENTION! Eduroam requires the user name to be entered in the form email@example.com (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org) OR email@example.com (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org), just the username without a suffix will not work.
You will need to log in again after changing your password!
If the computer is in the coverage zone of the Eduroam network, it will attempt to connect to the network automatically.
A speech bubble will appear in the bottom of the page, asking for additional information to connect to the network. Click on the speech bubble. A login window will appear.
To log in, you will need to enter your username and password. Remember to give your username with the @helsinki.fi suffix (e.g. email@example.com). Use your password as the password (the same password you use when you, for example, log on to a computer).
If authentication is successful, you will be able to join the Eduroam network. You can now use the Internet normally.
Note that in Windows 7 there is no separate notification for joining, but you can easily check whether you are connected to Eduroam by clicking on the network connection icon on the lower right.
